Hi, I am Stan the Man:

Actually, my name is Stanley, which is the name that was given to me at the shelter. I was brought into a high kill county facility after being hit by a car. The vet got me fixed up, and there is no sign of any problems, except for a small shaved area on my back, with the hair growing back. I stayed at the shelter for nearly a month. Another dachshund rescue group rejected me, since I am a doxie mix. I weigh about 25 lbs, have a doxie body, tail, my legs are a bit longer and a precious face with big brown eyes. I am a shiny red smooth hair doxie mix. How could anyone walk away from such a lovely dog? Happily, the nice people at FLDR came to my rescue, as the shelter said that "I needed to leave". Doesn't sound too good, huh?

The shelter feels that I am between 1-2 years old. Thus, I am young and very active. I love to chew on my Kong and want to play all the time- Throw the ball, tug of war, etc. The 12 year old female doxie thinks that I am far too active. I try to get her to play, but to no avail. A home with children or another playful dog would be wonderful. It appears that I am housebroken. I enjoy walks, and need to learn to use the doggie dog to come back in. With the door propped open, I come and go as I please.

Even though I am 25#, I think that I am lap dog. Perhaps it is because I spent nearly a month at the shelter, I want to be in your sight. I sleep in an open crate with lots of blankets.I try to get into bed with my foster family, but when they say "no", it seems that I understand that they want me back in the crate! When my rescuer goes to work, I am fine on the covered patio with the other doxie.

I am neutered, up to date on all my shots, and heartworm negative. When I was neutered, they found an umbilical hernia, but felt that is needed no treatment at this time. Now, my only wish is for a good forever home. Thanks for considering me. Please fill out an application and love me forever
