Hi! I’m George, a spunky little guy with a fantastic one-of-a-kind personality!
I was turned into rescue when my elderly owner passed away. I have been well
loved by everyone in my life – and you can tell. I believe that everyone,
everywhere exists for the sole purpose of loving me.
All doggie pillows, blankets and toys I re-arrange to make me happy. And have
been known to build “forts”. In other words I take every pillow and blanket and
make one huge pile of them in the middle of the floor – so that I can play and
roll and sleep there. What? You don’t need to walk there!
I get along great with my foster brothers and sisters – I like to play with
them sometimes, but most of the time I’m off by myself having Georgie
adventures. I’ve never been around cats.
I love playing with my humans too. Ball, tug of war, I’m not picky. I just love
human interaction, even if they are just talking to me or giving me a scratch
behind the ears. Going on walks is a lot of fun – my foster parents take me on
a 1 mile walk every day. And of course being in a lap snoozing is one of my
favorite activities. My ideal home will be one where someone is home with me
more often than not – I’m happiest when I’m around my humans.
December 2008 I had a disc rupture in my back. FLDR paid for emergency surgery
for me, and after lots of healing and care, I can walk, run, play, and do all
the things that a doxie should. Now I do walk & run kind of funny, but that
just adds to my charm. I can not go to a home with any stairs, and should not
jump off any furniture. And I also should not wear a collar to go on walks (a
harness is just fine). I take a daily supplement (liquid Glucosamine), that
I’ll need to take for the rest of my life. But otherwise I have no issues, and
I’ve been given an all clear from the doctor.
Oh another thing that I really love is to EAT! Food is soo sooo yummy. Foster
Mom has to really monitor how much I eat – and also that I don’t eat my food
really quick and then sneak over to eat everyone elses food. Especially because
of my past back issues it’s very important that I stay at a healthy weight.
When I came into rescue I had some issues from untreated skin allergies & ear
infections. My skin issues are resolved now. And my ears are great now too. I
seem to build up wax in my ears really quickly – so I need to have them cleaned
weekly so they stay healthy.
I’m housetrained, but every now and then I’ll have an accident. Sometimes I get
to playing, and don’t realize that I need to go outside until it’s too late! I
do very well being on a regular schedule of potty times. I’m crate trained – in
fact I really love my crate, and tend to go snooze in it. My foster parents
have a doggy door and I really like that alot – I love being able to go outside
having adventures, rolling in the grass and chasing the birds.
Georgie is in the N.W. Florida panhandle. If you are interested in being the
