Please read before
submitting an application
Florida Dachshund Rescue has a long waiting
list of approved homes seeking
rescue dachshunds. We want everyone to experience the love a
rescue doxie
will bring, but please note that an adoption could take a few
months. While
we can usually process your application in a couple of weeks, we
might not
have a dog right away that will fit into your home.
We are a small group and currently care for 20-25 dogs, yet
we've received
overwhelming response to our adoption program. In essence, the
demand far
outstrips the supply, which is even more evident with young
dogs. Puppies
and young adults will draw many applications. Your chances of
success will
be greater with a little older dog. Remember, dachshunds are a
long-lived
breed -- many living to 15-17 years if properly maintained.

Alfie Adopted!!
Why hello there! My name is Alfie and I am an active senior that
loves to play with balls and empty 2 liters. I found my
fascination with the empty 2 liters when I realized that they
made great toys and they are very loud! They are perfect for
getting attention from the humans. I like to play tug-of-war
with a KONG toy. |
Isabella
Say hello to Isabella. She is a 5 year old little lady in need of a new home. She knows how to use a doggie door and likes sleeping in her crate |
Pokey
My name is Pokey and I was just surrendered to Florida Dachshund
Rescue. I am a girl full of energy and I love to play with
stuffed animals. I will tear them up and have fun with the
stuffing all over the floor. I am adjusting to my foster home
and I have fallen in love with one of my foster dads. He keeps
telling me he loves me, but not to get too attached to being
here as I am going to find a new forever home. |
Molly
Adopted!!
Hello world! I’m Molly and I am currently accepting applications
for those interested in being my forever family. I am a five
year old, red, smooth girl. I weigh 16 pounds; I am up to date
on all my shots, spayed and healthy. In order for me to choose
you as my forever home there are some things you should know
about me. First off…when I bust through the door of my new
forever home, you will know I have arrived! My foster mom refers
to me as the Diva |
 Stretch
& CallieStretch (male) and Callie
(female) are brother and sister. They, along with another
sibling and their mother, were with the same family for the
first 4 years of the siblings’ life. Unfortunately the owner
died after a long stay in hospital which is how they came to be
with FLDR. They are now 5 years old.

Walker
Howdy everyone, my name is Walker (not Texas Ranger, but I get
that a lot) and I'm a loving, senior man looking for my forever
home. My dad works too much and I spend long hours by myself,
which I don't like at all. He says that I've come along way
since I came to live with him 4 years ago. It may take me a
little time and patience to get comfortable with you but once I
am I'm yours. |
Mack
and BenjaminMack and Benjamin share a strong bond;
Mack is Benjamin’s father. At least that is what our vet tells
us. This bond is apparent when they are observed cuddling
together. Mack is very protective of Benjamin and Benjamin is
never very far from Mack.
That is why they must be adopted together. |
Dolly
Hey Friends, I'm Dolly. I came into rescue because my previous
owner wanted to put me to sleep since I became paralyzed!
THANKFULLY the vet called Dachshund Rescue Of South Florida and,
in turn, Florida Dachshund Rescue. They not only saved my life,
they got me the surgery to hopefully help me walk again! |
Ollie
Hi! My name is Ollie. I’m a male (neutered) 2-year-old silver
dapple dachshund. I was rescued from an abusive home and taken
to the animal shelter. That is where my foster mom got me. I was
heartworm positive and very underweight. My foster mom took me
to the vet and had me treated for heartworms (that wasn’t fun)
and started feeding me healthy food and now I am doing great. |
Maggie
Meet Maggie, a sweet gal that belies her years. Maggie came into
rescue along with her three offspring (Callie, Lacey and
Stretch, also up for adoption by FLDR) after her owner died.
Maggie is housetrained and has no health issues, except for an
occasional flare-up of some skin allergy that is easily
controlled. |
George
Hi! I’m George, a spunky little guy with a fantastic
one-of-a-kind personality! I was turned into rescue when my
elderly owner passed away. I have been well loved by everyone in
my life – and you can tell. I believe that everyone, everywhere
exists for the sole purpose of loving me.

Cloe
Adoption Pending!!
Cloe’s story is one of overcoming adversity. She was abused
physically and emotionally. When we picked her up she was
covered with fleas, patches of hair missing and not friendly at
all. The person who rescued her said that she had been beaten
with a hairbrush and dropped in the woods. |
Allie
My name is Allie because I am originally from Alabama, where I
was found living in a tree stump after being abused and
abandoned. My coat is healthy and beautiful but does have some
scars from a bad case of the mange. Until now, I had a real
tough life. |
Rocco
Hi, My name is Rocco and I’m a happy little bundle of energy!
Like to play? Take walks? I’m your guy! I love chasing bouncy
balls, squeaking toys, and playing with my doxie foster sister.
Walk time is so much fun – I love exploring, and do well on a
leash.

Molly
Boynton beach Adopted!!
Molly is a sweet, loveable girl of 11
years old, who does not look or act her age.
Molly does well with my two doxies and leaves the resident cat
alone, although she will sometimes bark at her. Molly does not
like you to lock her out of the room you are in, she wants to be
able to come and sit by you or just know you are there. |
Stanley
Hi, I am Stan the Man: Actually, my name is Stanley, which is
the name that was given to me at the shelter. I was brought into
a high kill county facility after being hit by a car. The vet
got me fixed up, and there is no sign of any problems, except
for a small shaved area on my back, with the hair growing back. |
Newbie
Hi, I'm Newbie a cute, lovable fellow. I love laps and beds. I
don't always like to go out in the rain, or cold weather.
Everyone is my friend. |
